Expressions of Interest

GTA NSW is seeking Expressions of Interest from teachers and other professionals who would like to present at our Annual Conference at ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park on Monday 1st & Tuesday 2nd April 2019. Note: There are limited opportunities to present in 2019 due to a change structure of the conference. Preference will be given to GTA members. A variety of topics will be selected from the abstracts received based on those best meeting the criteria. 

Focus Areas

  1. Classroom practice: For example - Teaching Sustainable Biomes; Fieldwork Activities for Urban Places; A farm study approach to teaching Sustainable Biomes; Using PBL to teach Environmental Change & Management; How I flipped my classroom to teach Landforms & Landscapes; An integrated unit for Sustainable Biomes and Environmental Change; Sustainable Urban Places.
  2. Learning across the curriculum with an emphasis on Aboriginal perspectives, sustainability, numeracy, civics & citizenship OR ICT capability e.g. Teaching Water in the World from an Aboriginal perspective; Using spatial technologies in Stage 5 Topics

Criteria

  • Each workshop or presentation must focus on at least one Stage 4 or Stage 5 Geography topic. 
  • Presenters agree to make presentations available to conference participants as a PDF file.
  • Those teaching in schools receive a 25% discount on their conference registration per workshop / presentation per day. Maximum 50% discount per day.
  • Sessions can be a presentation (50 - 60 minute) or practical workshop (80 - 90 minutes)
