A celebration of science and education for National Science Week 

OFFICIAL OPENING

2021 is the 70th Anniversary of the NSW Science Teachers Association. Showcasing advances in science and education from across the last 7 decades, events will include exhibitions and forums on women trailblazers, panel discussions on the advances in medical sciences and environmental education, talks that encourage critical thinking about pioneering science and exploring the diverse environment within which we live.

Our virtual 7 Decades in 7 Days will be officially opened by our current President and Vice President of the Science Teachers Association NSW. 

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community and we pay our respect to Elders past, present and emerging,  as part of our opening ceremony we look forward to being Welcomed to Country



SCIENCE IN THE HOUSE

An all-day expo of science education for members of parliament. 

Join us on social media throughout the day to raise awareness of the importance of science education.   

ABORIGINAL ASTRONOMY LESSON

  • Date: Sunday 15 August
  • Time: 5:00pm - 6:00pm
  • Venue: Virtual Auditorium

Tribal Warrior and the Science Teachers Association NSW will be bringing you an Aboriginal Astronomy lesson. 

CELEBRATING STRONG WOMEN IN SCIENCE

  • Date: Wednesday 18 August
  • Time12:30pm - 1:30pm     
  • Venue: Virtual Auditorium

Teachers, colleagues and students are invited to attend this online webinar delivered by three Medical Researchers from the Garvan Institute.



PROPELLED BY SCIENCE - A PROVOCATIVE TALKFEST

A discussion with Museum Researchers on science that has challenged and progressed society. 

VIRTUAL FRIDAY NIGHT DRINKS WITH THE MUSEUM - AND SOME 70S FUN

70's themed virtual Friday night drinks with keynote address from Dr Cathy Foley and special guest Dr Karl. 

FAMILY FUN DAY WITH THE ZOO

  • Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm    
  • Venue: Virtual Auditorium 

In partnership with the Taronga Zoo Education Unit, come explore the advancements in animal conservation and join in some fun interactive activities designed to explore the skill of thinking scientifically.

In partnership with the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum we will explore through a panel conversation the future of energy.
