Expressions of Interest to Present
GTA NSW & ACT is seeking Expressions of Interest from teachers and other professionals who would like to present at our Annual Conference at ANZ Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd May 2020 AND/OR at Novotel, Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday 23rd May 2020.
Geography K - 10 THURSDAY 21 MAY and/or FRIDAY 22 MAY
- Stream 1. ICT Learning Journey: Building ICT capabilities for teachers and students (includes spatial technologies, AR, VR and formative assessment tools)
- Stream 2. Classroom Practice Learning Journey: Building content knowledge and understanding, developing confidence with geographical inquiry skills, tools and fieldwork; creating effective assessments and investigating pedagogies for stages 4 & 5.
- Stream 3. Cross Curriculum Learning Journey: Cross curriculum priorities (Aboriginal, sustainability, Asia); general capabilities (including literacy, numeracy, critical and creative thinking, civics & citizenship) and careers.
- Stream 4. Primary guest speakers on teaching Geography including integrating literacy, numeracy, fieldwork, ICT and cross curriculum units
Geography 11 - 12 SATURDAY 23 MAY
- Stream 1. HSC Marking Practices and Skills (Run by GTA NSW & ACT)
- Stream 2. 30-minute of classroom practice - By teachers, For teachers (topic content, skills, tools, fieldwork, assessment and practical advice relevant to Stage 6
- Stream 3. Invited presenters who are experts in their field.
Requirements
- Presenters will make presentations available for the GTA Website
- Session times include 30 minutes, 60 minutes or 120 minutes
- Longer sessions available by invitation from GTA NSW & ACT or on request (contact to discuss)
- Those teaching in schools receive a 50% discount on their conference registration on the day they present
Keynote and Endnote speakers (by invitation only)
These presentations will vary in time from 30 - 60 minutes as negotiated with the Conference Convenor.
